Choosing Wax by Grip

Ever wondered what’s the difference between our types of waxes? It’s all in the grip!

One of the unique factors of our product range is that our waxes and balms vary in the level of grip they offer, thus allowing you to choose the perfect one for your needs.

In order to demonstrate how our waxes and balms vary in their grip-to-slip ratio, we devised a simple Grip Chart.

The chart goes from 1 – 10, with a rating of 1 providing the least amount of grip and 10 providing the most. For comparison purposes we’ve listed oil as number 1 on the scale, as the very nature of oil means it offers almost no grip at all.

Coming in at number 2 on the Grip Chart is our Liquiwax, which offers the most ‘slip’ and least grip of all our products. Because it contains some wax (either beeswax for our original Liquiwax or plant wax for our Vegan Liquiwax), it offers more grip than pure oil, especially once it’s been worked into the skin. But its more viscous nature means it’s noticeably more slippery upon application than our other products, making it ideal for long, gliding strokes.

Our Massage Waxes fall in the very middle of the Grip Chart with a grip rating of 5. They have the ideal grip-to-slip ratio for massage; enough grip to provide good control during the treatment, but enough slip to be able to maintain a continuous glide over the skin.

Our Reflexology Waxes are a little tighter than our Massage Waxes, as they need to provide more grip on the skin for reflexology treatments.

Moving up to the higher end of the grip chart is our Fascial Release Wax. Our original Fascial Release Wax has a grip rating of 8, while our ‘Super Grip’ version comes in at number 10 (making it our grippiest product of all). These waxes give a very tight and strong grip with little slip, and are therefore generally used for specific deep tissue and myofascial release work as opposed to all-over massage.

Our Grip Chart is designed to give an easy overview of what to expect when working with each of our products. We hope it’s a useful guide for you all, but if you have any questions about which product may be best for you, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team so we can point you in the right direction.
